Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward’s Women on the Verge Hosts ‘Power Returns’

Women on the Verge, which harnesses the power of women in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters, attracted more than 50 leading women of Broward County to a special Power Returns cocktail gathering, the first Women on the Verge live event since the pandemic.  The event was hosted at Holy Mackerel’s VIP party room in Fort Lauderdale.

“At our Power Returns event, our intention was to replace social distancing with social responsibility and we did just that with so many women coming together to party with a purpose,’” said Malena Mendez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. “A great time was had by all, and were excited to have 25 women sign up as new or returning members.”

The event marked the launch of the Women on the Verge “100 in 100” membership campaign, with a goal of securing 100 members in 100 days.

Women on the Verge harnesses the power of women in our community in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s  mission of creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.  The resource group is known for hosting fun gatherings, ranging from private wine tastings to exclusive shopping experiences.  Net proceeds raised by Women on the Verge are earmarked for post-high school scholarships, including for both college tuition and expenses and vocational training.
