Three hundred and fifty Bigs, Littles and their families attended a run-jump-and-play field day celebrating the end of summer and the upcoming school year at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County’s annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway at Broward Central Regional Park.

“It was really terrific to see our Littles have so much fun at this action-packed field day,” said Malena Mendez, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward. “We’re very grateful to our sponsors Florida Power & Light and Upchurch Management who made this event a reality for our Littles in our program.  It really was a special day.”

The kids hopped in potato sacks, showed their strength at tug-o-war, built team skills during a relay run, and tested their coordination in a three-legged race. They also enjoyed a picnic lunch and took home a backpack full of school supplies.  Plus, each family received a $100 gift card donated by Publix Super Markets as well as McDonald’s gift cards from Upchurch Management.
