Bourbon Hopscotch Raises $30K for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County

Bourbon Hopscotch:  A Spirited Tasting + Auction attracted approximately 125 bourbon connoisseurs and committed Big Brothers Big Sisters supporters to Stache Drinking Den for an evening of fine liquor and beer, gourmet culinary creations and exciting silent and live auctions.  The event, presented by Van Horn Law Group, P.A. and Damn Good Hospitality Group, raised $30K for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.

“A big thank you goes out to the leaders who put together this marvelous event – Honorary Chair Jeff John of Damn Good Hospitality Group, Co-chair Chad Van Horn of Van Horn Law Group, and Co-chair Renée Quinn of Spirited South Florida,” said Ana Cedeno, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County.  “The result was a super fun, super ‘spirited’ good time for a great cause.”

Curated by Spirited South Florida and hosted by Stache Drinking Den, Bourbon Hopscotch offered hearty bites from Damn Good Hospitality Group, Funky Buddha Brewery and Shuck-N-Dive, in addition to a spirit-infused coffee and dessert bar.  The rare and coveted Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23YR from the Buffalo Trace Collection headlined the live auction powered by QTEGO, in addition to other fine whiskeys and high-end prizes.

Carrying through the Bourbon Hopscotch theme, a special tastings of five expressions of bourbon – Buffalo Trace, EH Taylor Small Batch, Eagle Rare 10YR, 1792 Small Batch and Weller Antique 107 – was hosted by Randy Palmer of Republic National Distributing Company, which represents The Sazerac Family of Brands.

“To work with the associates and volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County is heartwarming and uplifting,” said Randy Palmer, portfolio manager of RNDC /Buffalo Trace, Florida.  “The mentoring of young people by Big Brothers Big Sisters helps to strengthen our communities. The benefits for a young person are life changing. On behalf of Buffalo Trace and Republic National Distributing Company, thank you for letting us be part of this event. We look forward to it every year.”

In addition to bourbon, Funky Buddha offered a beer flight of Manhattan Double Rye, Barrel-Aged Morning Wood and Barrel-Aged Muy Bonita while Danny Jimenez of The Macallan’s Brand provided a scotch flight of Macallan 12 Sherry Oak, Macallan 12 Double Cask, Macallan 15 Triple Cask, Glenrothes 12 and Highland Park 12.
