Check out our photo gallery! This event, which takes place the first Saturday every June, has been around almost as long as the agency itself! We take advantage of the beautiful waters surrounding us and rain or shine, we gather wonderful boat captains who volunteer themselves and their boats for the day and get children, parents and volunteers on board for a day of fishing fun. There are prizes awarded at the end of the day for biggest fish, smallest fish and largest number of fish caught by one child. This day is always a sold-out success, as it has been for 31 years!

A: We will be fishing, rain or shine! If the ocean is too rough, all boats will stay on the Intracoastal. Q: Who can come to the fishing tournament? A: Any child who is enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters. Due to the popularity and limited capacity of this event, other family members cannot be accommodated. Please note that all children MUST be accompanied by either their Big or parent/legal guardian. Q: What time should I arrive? A: We recommend that you arrive by 8:30AM in order to register, get your T-shirt and board the boat. Fishing begins at 9:00AM, and all boats will be back at the dock by 2:00PM. Q: If I don't like fishing, can I still come? A: Of course! There are boats assigned to cruise the Intracoastal for those who don't want to fish. Q: What should I bring? A: Keep in mind that you will be out on the water and in the sun for most of the day, so take proper precautions. Please bring a hat, sunscreen and water. We also recommend that you bring some snacks with you on the boat. Pizza will be served once boats return to the dock. For more information on the Fishing Tournament, contact Amanda Lachs.
