 PROGRAMS

Community-Based Program

Bigs meet with their little brother or little sister throughout the community, three to four times per month. Bigs are introduced to the child and parent in a pre-match meeting set by the case manager who is always on hand and will be there to help during the match. Bigs and Littles plan the outings together based on mutual interests and to help the child achieve greater self-confidence and awareness.

If you would like to make the first step and fill out an application, please click here to download the form and then click here to download a short questionaire. Please fax your application to our offices at (954) 584-9868.

Bigs in Schools

Bigs meet with children during the school day for about one hour each week at the school. Bigs and littles engage in activities such as educational games, reading, recreation or simply talk about life.  Each relationship is supprted by a case manager, who is a resource to help celebrate successes or help solve challenges Bigs or LIttles might have.  This program is perfect for a busy volunteer who has a flexible day schedule.  Click here for a list of schools where Big Brothers Big Sisters is conducting mentoring programs.

Inspire Within: Mentoring Youth in Transition

Nearly 200 young adults age out of the foster care system in Broward County every year.  And more than 50 percent of them have not graduated from high school.

For a former foster youth with no family support system, moving in adulthood is especially challenging.  Become a mentor and assist young people with his difficult transition period in their lives.
